4. Animation!

We want the game to be able to lift up the cup for us. How can we make pictures look like they're moving? We're going to use animation! Animation is when we take a few pictures that are little bit different from each other, and flip through them really fast so it looks like the picture moves. Let's animate something in real life first, then animate the cup!

1. Flip Book Practice!

If you have a notebook handy, try making a flip book in real life! On the first page, draw a smiley face. On the page right beneath it, draw the face making a new expression. When you turn the pages quickly, what happens? 

2. Give your cup another costume

In Scratch, costumes are like another page in a flip book. Let's give the cup another costume by right clicking on your first costume, and clicking "Duplicate." 

3. Raise the second cup up

In your second cup costume, use the cursor tool to lift it above the little grey crosshair.
